Los Bandidos De Carlos & Mickey's
About This Spot
Stepping into Los Bandidos De Carlos & Mickey's on Magruder Street feels like settling into a familiar, well-loved neighborhood gathering spot where the rhythm of El Paso’s rich culture and flavors quietly hum beneath every detail. The space carries a lived-in warmth, a welcoming blend of colorful Mexican and Western touches, with hints of playful personality — from roosters perched in the décor to a giant Christmas tree during the holidays. It’s a place where time moves a little slower, inviting you to relax and soak in the unpretentious charm that only years of loyal visits can cultivate.
The atmosphere hums with joyful murmurs, the soft clinks of glasses, and the occasional bursts of laughter—perfect for sharing stories with friends or family over a spread meant to spark comfort and familiarity. The service flows with a friendly attentiveness that keeps the mood easy, never rushed, and always centered on making guests feel right at home.
What stands out here is how much the food complements the spirit of the place — not flashy, but honest and thoughtfully executed. Margaritas on the rocks carry a balance of tradition and indulgence, pairing effortlessly with classics like tacos al pastor or the sizzling steak and shrimp fajitas. Every bite seems to echo the local love for bold, heartfelt flavors, where something as simple as the rice or the accompanying salsa elevates the entire experience without overshadowing the meal’s warmth and sincerity.
Whether you’re drawn by the comfort of a familiar plate or the excitement of trying a flavorful twist on a favorite, Los Bandidos offers a sense of belonging. It’s the kind of spot where the details — the little spicy kick of salsa, the hearty carnitas, the shared pitcher of margaritas — invite you into a casual celebration of life, food, and community that quietly lingers long after the last bite.

We went to celebrate my daughter graduating from UTEP. The service was peak and the pomegranate margaritas on the rocks were amazing. I took mine above the house tequila and added Patrón. I ordered chicken flautas, beans and rice. The rice! Better than any rice I've had when it is added to en entré. Most rice is run of the mill but this was way more flavorful. I highly recommend this place. If I'm ever in El Paso again I will be sure to stop here for my Mexican food fix.

Although the atmosphere and service was amazing, the food was the greatest in my opinion. I had 2 bacon wrapped shrimp and that was average. For meal I ordered the fried shrimp platter and the shrimp nor the breading had any flavor. I think it may be due to being used Skrimp Shack on east coast that has the best fried shrimp. Salsa was too spicy for me but tasty and probably just fine for everyone else so I definitely don’t fault them on that. My husband said his food was fine. Service was amazing! The place is so beautiful and just for that we may be back to bring family or friends here.

Both my fiancee and I had the pork carnitas that were on special. The plate came with white rice and a small serving as you can see if borracho beans and two salad, one avocado and a red salsa that was for $9.99. It was delicious and filling. Oh and of course a margarita! It was an enjoyable afternoon with friends.

There was definitely something sweet going on here, on every type of sYde; all I can say is I appreciate the greatness and the service(as I sat down with a pack of Doritos Saracha golden bag of chips sitting on the left seat …than the right) And that’s hindsight . . . (Kathy “Bates” was playing on the TV; water boy!)

We came here for Christmas season...they had a beautiful tree gigantic!!! The decor is mostly mexican but someone there must love rosters lol. It was warm but it needs a lil face-lift. The booths cushion seating are a bit old. The deco theme is i dont know? They have a mixture of Mexican, Western, angels, decorative plates hanging all thrown together. The food was great they also had a great trio playing and they were fabulous. The service great too. They have another location also good but esthetically they look lots better. The original restaurant show invest in making it a more updated. Its the original... I grew up coming here.

Decent place. Spacious, large and loud. They had live music, it’s nice and also loud. Food overall was decent, not particularly special. Good Mexican food, can find elsewhere too. We enjoyed our meal. Chips were large, I prefer the tortilla chips in small sizes. The walls had very interesting pictures. Enjoyed looking at all the different ones! Downside, they don’t serve sweet tea or homemade lemonade. Overall, decent Mexican food. We’ll try other stuff when in town again.

A wider menu than Tex-Mex. Pork carnitas were a signature dish and excellent- flour tortillas fluffy and soft. The tamal had very tasty masa and a rich smoky red sauce. It's a busy, kind of loud place. They have live music but we were there early so it was all recorded - still loud enough but even for me generally not liking loud places - I wasn't bothered by it. Staff was attentive and more than one came by to ask how things were etc. The margarita was good- I settled for the mid range "El Paso" versus the 42 ounce "Texas sized" one. Funky decor lots of alcoves with large tables - looks like it's a popular spot for celebrations.
